Clean Vs. Sanitized
NCBS specializes in Daily School Sanitizing and Cleaning for Environmental Health. “Clean” is judged visually by the lack of dirt and by how shiny the surface looks, but sanitizing is determined by using scientific equipment to measure how germ-free and healthy your school really is. The health part of this equation is far more valuable than the cleaning and polishing part.
We Offer Three Package Options
Option 1: Consulting Package
Our Consulting Package is offered at no cost to you. We will demonstrate how you can achieve substantial savings by implementing our sanitizing program. Our fee comes from a portion of what we save you. Your present staff would make the transition from custodians to sanitarians although there will be fewer sanitarians than custodians. Our consulting package teaches the school custodial facilities manager how to train current employees to decrease illness related absenteeism by 20% to 40% and decrease the operating budget by between 10% and 20%.
Option 2: Management Package
Our Management Package places one full time Health Sanitizing Manager and as many supervisors and trainers on your site who will train and manage your staff. They will also perform the necessary measurements needed to track and monitor the sanitizing program to assure the program’s effectiveness and that your schools are healthy.
Option 3: Complete Outsourcing Package
Our Complete Outsourcing Package includes Non-Core Business Solutions (NCBS) furnishing all the management, supervision, personnel, equipment, tools, chemicals, training, and measurements to make your schools healthy. We will employ those of your current custodial staff who can make the transition to sanitarians level. We will also bring on any other support personnel needed to make your schools as germ free as practical thus decreasing the incidences of absenteeism for your teachers, staff, and students.
NCBS is insured and bonded with a third party bond. This bond will cover our employees not just to us as their employer, but for our customer’s protection as well. Before hiring any employees, their background will be checked and they are given a drug test. Only if they pass these, are they eligible for hiring. NCBS also makes random background checks and give unannounced drug tests during the year We want to do everything practical to insure that all sanitizing staff are of good character, people you can trust, and will compliment your schools to give you the highest standards practical.
How to Proceed
For educational institutions particularly K12 schools, the ideal way to proceed in most cases is to choose the Consulting Package.
Next, choose the school whose principal and teachers have the best leadership ability. Thirdly discuss the program with them and ask them if they want to be the first to install the program in their school, being sure to tell them that they will get a bonus of 50% of the annual savings which should be between $1,000 and $2,000 a year. Although this is not a big percent of their income, it does increase their discretionary income between 50% and 100%.
If they are motivated to do this, a representative of NCBS and the schools custodial management will meet with them and go over all the details in installing this sanitizing program and get their agreement on all the protocols and details.
This installation plan will be made by this group and then installed according to this plan. The NCBS and school custodial management person will be at this school for the first few days of the installation to work out any problems that might arise.
After several weeks of monitoring the program and accurately determining its success, the same procedure will be applied to the remainder of the schools in the school system and the sanitizing program will be installed in all schools.
If you choose to partner with NCBS and go directly to Option 3, Complete Outsourcing Package for your sanitizing services, we will devise a plan to treat your present janitorial/custodial staff fairly. NCBS will interview all your staff and determine who would likely be able to become sanitarians. Sanitizing services involves a lot more training and different protocols than does custodial or janitorial work, although some of the protocols of custodial and janitorial work will continue to occur. The wage structure offered to these sanitarians must meet the economic standards for the area. This keeps wages fair for all workers involved, minimizes the risk of turnover, and maintains a high standard of quality for the program put in place.
All of our sanitizing programs offer schools a much higher value than just custodial work. We believe that the value of decreasing the absenteeism of teachers, students and faculty will increase the learning process for all students. Increased learning means increasing grade point averages, graduation rates and overall quality of life for these students particularly those students that do not drop out of school due to the benefits of the sanitizing program. We believe our sanitizing programs offer values which are greater than all the present custodial services available today. If that is true, then our sanitation program is more than twice the value of the best custodial services you could have.
The first thing that must be done to have a successful sanitizing program is to change the mind set of all those involved. This would include the administrative staff, principals, teachers, students—and this would include parents as well.
Thinking and attitudes must change from “the custodial department is responsible for the health of our school”, to “we are all responsible for the health of our school”. To be successful at sanitizing your building, everyone must participate and do all they can to optimize the health of their school. This is also the very foundation of our program.
With this attitude as our foundation, we can then implement our program that will decrease absenteeism, increase productivity and create financial savings. This will also allow schools to optimize the use of federal, state, and county taxes. All these benefits will enhance and promote the success of our kids.
There is an old saying that goes “a pearl of great price is not had for the asking”. What Makes School Sanitizing and Cleaning Services Successful?
Unless it is done right, sanitizing your schools will not be successful, or as successful as it should be. Many factors converge to design a proper and effective school sanitizing program.
You should never compromise the health of your building occupants by allowing price and the quickest returns to influence your decision. Low prices (and some high prices) may look appealing, but cutting corners almost always results in unwanted consequences. We completed sanitizing one building for a cost that was under $2,000. The building manager told us that the year before he paid over $12,000, for sanitizing it!!!
Calculating Total Value/Cost Savings –
You should always calculate the total value/cost savings of services, not just the short-sighted difference between the present and proposed value/costs of services. You must estimate the lost-learning expenses of absent students and teachers.
If the hard cost of student absenteeism is $41.13 a day, you should also put in an estimation of the soft cost. This would include lost learning, higher dropout rates, less graduation rates, and poorer student quality of life.
If a teacher is absent one day, not only does an average of 20 students lose most of one day’s learning, you must consider the additional cost of a substitute teacher who must be brought in and paid. You must also include the administrative cost (both hard and soft) required to make this happen. If you then include the cost of one student day absences, then multiply by the number of students, multiplied by the percent of learning lost per student, you will have an idea of the actual cost of absenteeism.
